Overview

At RawLaw, we strive to ensure every user has a positive experience on our Platform. This Cancellation & Refund Policy outlines how you may cancel a service and the circumstances under which refunds are available for payments made through RawLaw (available at rawlaw.in and app.rawlaw.in).

This Policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. By making a payment on the Platform, you agree to this Policy.

This Policy is governed by the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and other applicable Indian laws.


How to Cancel

You may cancel a service or subscription on RawLaw at any time by:

  1. Logging into your account at app.rawlaw.in → Settings → Subscription → Cancel Plan, or
  2. Emailing us at refunds@rawlaw.in with the subject line: “Cancellation Request – [Your Order ID]”

Cancellations take effect as follows:

  • Subscriptions: Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to premium features until that date. No further charges will be made after cancellation.
  • Litigation support orders: Cancellation is accepted only before work has commenced. Once work begins, the order cannot be cancelled.
  • Free queries: No cancellation needed — posting a query is free and carries no obligation.

We will confirm your cancellation by email within 2 business days.


Marketplace Queries

Posting a query on the RawLaw marketplace is free. There is no charge for submitting a legal query, browsing lawyer profiles, or receiving bid notifications.

Payments made directly to advocates through the Platform (if applicable) are governed by the agreement between you and the advocate. RawLaw is not a party to such agreements and does not facilitate direct payments between users and advocates at this time. Any fee disputes with advocates should be resolved directly with the advocate or through the applicable Bar Council grievance mechanism.


Subscription Plans

Advocates and law firms may subscribe to premium plans on the Platform. The following refund terms apply:

Within 7 days of purchase (new subscriptions only)

If you are a new subscriber and are not satisfied with a paid plan, you may request a full refund within 7 days of your initial subscription purchase, provided:

  • You have not used the premium features (e.g., profile boost, priority listing, unlimited bids) during the 7-day period
  • This is your first subscription to that plan

After 7 days or for renewals

Subscription fees are non-refundable after the 7-day window or for recurring renewal charges. You may cancel your subscription at any time to prevent future charges; the cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period and you will retain access to premium features until that date.

Annual subscriptions

For annual subscriptions cancelled after 7 days of purchase, a pro-rated refund may be issued for the unused full months remaining, at our sole discretion, subject to a processing fee of ₹299.


Litigation Support Services

Litigation support and drafting services (offered under the “Services for Advocates” offering) are subject to the following refund terms:

  • Before work begins: Full refund if you cancel before our team has commenced work on your assignment, minus any payment gateway transaction fees (typically 2–3% of the order value).
  • After work has begun: No refund is available once our team has started research, drafting, or any other billable work on your assignment. You will receive the deliverable as specified in the service agreement.
  • Quality concerns: If the delivered work does not materially meet the agreed scope, please raise a dispute within 48 hours of delivery. We will review your concern and, where valid, provide a revised deliverable or a partial refund at our discretion.

Eligibility for Refund

To be eligible for a refund, you must:

  1. Submit a refund request to refunds@rawlaw.in within the applicable time window
  2. Provide your registered email address, order/transaction ID, and reason for the refund request
  3. Not have violated our Terms and Conditions

Refund requests submitted after the applicable window, or in cases where the service has been fully delivered and accepted, will not be entertained.


Refund Process

To request a refund:

  1. Email refunds@rawlaw.in with the subject line: “Refund Request – [Your Order ID]”
  2. Include your registered email address, order or transaction ID, and a brief description of the issue
  3. Our support team will acknowledge your request within 2 business days
  4. We will review your request and communicate our decision within 7 business days of acknowledgement

Refund Timeline

Approved refunds will be processed as follows:

Refunds will be credited to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. We are not able to process refunds to a different account or payment method.

Please note that your bank or payment provider may have their own processing timelines beyond our control.


Non-Refundable Items

The following are not eligible for refunds under any circumstances:

  • Subscription renewal charges where the renewal was not cancelled before the billing date
  • Fees paid to advocates directly for legal services rendered
  • Convenience fees or payment gateway charges
  • Promotional or discounted plan purchases (unless explicitly stated otherwise)
  • Accounts suspended or terminated due to a violation of our Terms and Conditions

Disputes

If you believe a charge was made in error or you have a dispute regarding a refund decision, you may escalate by emailing grievance@rawlaw.in with the subject “Refund Dispute”. We will review escalated disputes within 10 business days.

If you are not satisfied with our resolution, you may pursue remedies available under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 through the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum.

If you are not satisfied with the resolution of your refund or cancellation request, you may escalate to our Grievance Officer:

Response time: We will acknowledge your grievance within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.

If your concern remains unresolved, you may approach the Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
